WHO WE ARE
Rooted in Story, Refined by Nature
The Log Collective began as a rustic cabin built in 2001 on the edge of a working wine farm in Stellenbosch – originally intended for entertaining, it soon became a peaceful personal sanctuary. Years later, drawn by the setting’s quiet beauty and potential, a postgraduate student named Kobus Groenewald took over the space with a vision: to create something soulful and enduring.
What started as a modest project has grown — slowly and intentionally — into a refined collection of unique stays. Rooted in nature and shaped by story, The Log Collective offers a space to step away, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what matters most.

Our Values
Where Soul Meets Space
At The Log Collective, everything we do is shaped by a deep respect for place, a commitment to thoughtful hospitality, and a belief in the restorative power of nature.
Vision
To become a benchmark for soulful hospitality – where every visit offers a transformative connection to nature, self, and others – leaving guests not just rested, but restored and inspired.
Mission
To create a space where guests can step away from the pressures of modern life and fully immerse themselves in the raw beauty of the countryside. Through distinctive settings and sincere hospitality, we help our guests reconnect – with themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them.

Once upon a time...
Before The Log Cabin was what it was today, it used to be known as The Party Palace; likely due to the fact that it was occupied by students studying in and around Stellenbosch. Kobus Groenewald was one of those fortunate students who had the privilege to call this his home whilst finishing up his studies.

Starting our veggie garden...
